Founding Member

Megan, originally from Kansas City, Missouri, knew from an early age that dance was going to be a major part of her life. She began dancing at age 3 and hasn’t stopped yet. Megan graduated from Oklahoma City University’s Ann Lacy School of American Dance and Entertainment with a Bachelor of Science degree in American Dance Pedagogy and a Master of Fine Arts in Dance. While at OCU, Megan was a member of the American Spirit Dance Company. After graduation, Megan accepted a position within the Ann Lacy School of American Dance and Entertainment as Assistant to the Dance Department Chair - Jo Rowan. Megan held numerous roles while at OCU, including Assistant Director to the Community Dance Center, an on-campus learning-laboratory for the American Dance Teacher Majors, Assistant Professor of Dance, Choreographer, and Academic Advisor. In 2015, Megan and her husband moved to Colorado for a new adventure. Megan has taught for numerous arts organizations throughout the Denver metro including Denver School of the Arts and Rocky Mountain Theatre for Kids. She has been a faculty member at Leap Dance Studio since arriving in Denver. She is a board member for Colorado Dance Education Organization and is on the Dance Events Committee for Presenting Denver. Megan has extensive training in ballet, jazz, tap, and musical theater dance. She also has performance, choreographic, and professional arts management experience with productions such as South Pacific, Coppélia, The Wizard of Oz, Fiddler on the Roof, Beauty & the Beast, and Seussical. Megan never considered herself a “tap dancer” until a professor in college said “...but you are!” With that change in mindset, Megan went on to expand the current tap program at Leap Dance Studio from 3 levels to 6, and now tries to show everyone they can, and should, consider themselves a tap dancer, as well! In her spare time (ha!), you can find Megan spending time exploring Colorado with her family (that now includes two little tap dancers), reading a good book, or taking in the performing arts scene in Denver! As an original founding member of the company, Megan is so excited to make her official return to Rocky Mountain Rhythm and continue sharing tap dance with the Colorado community!
